Saint all set for Friday night fireworks

George 'The Saint' Groves will face unbeaten fellow Brit Callum Smith in the final of the inaugural World Boxing Super Series tournament in Saudi Arabia this Friday night, live on ITV Box Office.

The No 1 seed Groves, who was declared fit following a shoulder injury sustained in the semi-final win over Chris Eubank Jr earlier this year, will fight Smith for the inaugural Muhammad Ali Trophy at Jeddah's King Abdullah Sports City in Saudi Arabia, with the fight set to start at 9pm sharp this Friday night, live on ITV Box Office.

The fight will also see The Saint defend his WBA Super World Title for the third time following wins against Jamie Cox and Eubank Jr, and the two fighters will also have the added incentive of contesting the vacant Ring Magazine title - seen as a rubber stamp confirmation of the No.1 fighter in the division.

Groves said: “It’s fantastic news that we now have a confirmed date and location for the final.

"I’m incredibly excited the fight has been formally confirmed to take place in Jeddah. I’m excited and sure this final will eclipse every WBSS fight to date for excitement and drama.

"I have been in camp for a while already but am now looking forward to stepping the training up now the date’s been set.

“Smith is a good fighter but I believe I am the best super middleweight on the planet.

“I’m World Champion, number one in the division and am now looking forward to putting on a show in Jeddah and winning the Ali Trophy.”
