George 'The Saint' Groves successfully defended his WBC silver super-middleweight title and mandatory position for the world title with a seventh round stoppage of Denis Douglin.
Groves was cut on the nose in the third round but floored the American with a big right hand 30 seconds before the seventh bell at Liverpool's Echo Arena.
Groves told Sky Sports: "Paddy gave me five out of 10 and I will agree.
“Fighting a southpaw was different and was what I needed, he was a good fighter, he was good inside and I didn't want to scrap with him inside.
"It was good to get another stoppage and now I want to roll on to the big one.
“I want to take the quickest route to a world title and that's the [Anthony] Dirrell fight. I want to be a world champion and bring a world title belt to Britain. I'll be a world champion next year."
