Undefeated George 'The Saint' Groves will fight for two world titles against Carl 'The Cobra' Froch in a mouthwatering domestic dust-up for the IBF & WBA Super-middleweight titles.
The all-british world title clash will take place on November 23rd at the Phones4U Arena (formerly the M.E.N.) in Manchester. Froch added the WBA strap to his IBF belt when he beat Mikkel Kessler in a brilliant rematch at the O2 Arena in May, with unbeaten Groves collecting the vacant WBA Inter-Continental title on the bill with a fifth round stoppage of Noe Gonzalez Alcoba. Groves was subsequently named Mandatory challenger for the IBF strap and the clash with Froch was made soon after.
Froch, said: “It’s going to be an explosive fight, one not to miss. It’s pretty clear that we don’t like each other and although he’s been in with some decent names, he’s never mixed it at the elite level like I have and he’s not going to like it.
"This is my first all-British fight since 2007 and there’s always a massive buzz around domestic dust-ups. This one is bigger than most, and I can’t wait."
Groves also admitted he can't wait for the clash: "I’ve worked hard to get to the mandatory position and I think I’m in a great spot in my career to take Carl’s titles.
"I’m going to go in as the underdog but that’s fine with me, it didn’t affect me when I beat James DeGale and it won’t when I beat Carl.
"I have felt for some time that I have the beating of Carl in this fight and although it may be an upset with everyone else, I’m very confident I’ll be a world champion on November 23."
Promoter and managing director of Matchroom Sport Eddie Hearn said: “This is going to go down as one of the biggest all-British world title clashes of all time and it’s going to be a fantastic occasion. I am working on building a great undercard fit for such a huge night with some big names all lined-up."
