Saint gets September date!

Undefeated British & Commonwealth Super-middleweight champion George ‘The Saint’ Groves is set for a busy few months after Promoter Frank Warren announced he will return to action again on September 14th after his clash in the US with Francisco Sierra.

The Saint will headline at Wembley Arena on the Frank Warren promoted show on September 14th against an as yet unnamed opponent. It's likely that opponent will be rival Kenny Anderson, though first Groves must come through one of his toughest challenges to date, as he faces Mexican Francisco Sierra 25-5-1 (22 KO's) in San Jose, California on the undercard of the Robert Guerrero v Selcuk Aydin WBC Welterweight clash on July 28th.

"I’m concentrating fully on my fight next weekend. It’s always a challenge, boxing abroad. I’ll be in with a good guy – he’s a very good fighter, Sierra, with a very good record, so I can’t look past him", said Groves.

"But it’s good to know that when I do beat him, I’ve got a nice big show in London to come back to.

"Building a fan base in London has always been important for me. I’m looking forward to some exciting times ahead."

Promoter Frank Warren echoed Groves in declaring a big future in the capital for the super-middleweight, emphasising his commitment to backing Groves as a headline attraction in London.

"Wembley’s a fabulous boxing arena with a lot of history and is not far from where George lives", said Warren.

"The objective for me is to build up big fights headed by George. I’m determined to get behind George and really push him.

"He’s had a little bit of bad luck with his injuries, but now he’s back in the game I’m going to throw the whole weight of my promotions behind him to get him that world title shot."
