The Saint (5-0) has signed a promotional deal with Frank Maloney. He will continue to be managed by Hayemaker Promotions and trained by Adam Booth and his first fight under the new deal will be at Seaburn Centre, Sunderland, on Friday 16th October.
Maloney rates Groves, who remains undefeated as a pro, as one of the best young prospects in the country. Following five successive wins, Groves is now ranked 11th in the country at Super-Middleweight. He commented,
“This is a fantastic opportunity for me. I am delighted to be involved with Maloney Productions and am looking forward to the coming season where I am hoping to challenge for titles.”
The deal will see Groves compete alongside Maloney’s other two Super-Middleweight rising stars, Olympic bronze medallist Tony Jeffries (3-0) and Travis Dickinson (3-0).
“I have now been given the chance to get more exposure on Sky Sports and plan to return that favour with some more quality performances to justify Frank's encouraging words that I am one of the world’s best prospects.”
In less than 18 months all three of Maloney’s rising stars will be in action on the Sunderland bill, and could find themselves competing with one another for major titles.
“There has been discussion about me boxing Travis. I think it’s inevitable and I’d welcome the opportunity to battle it out!” says Groves.
